Made in Finland from birch, this version is finished throughout in white lacquer, giving the familiar round seat and curved legs a particularly clean and understated appearance.

The E60 developed Aalto’s earlier three-legged Stool 60 into a steadier four-legged form while retaining the same economical construction and sculptural clarity. Its characteristic L-leg, created by bending a laminated section of solid birch through 90 degrees, allowed the legs to be fixed directly beneath the seat without a separate supporting frame. This innovation became one of the defining elements of Aalto’s furniture for Artek.

Solid birch is used for the four legs and the edge of the circular seat, with birch also forming the seat structure.
