Designed by Alvar Aalto, the A622A ceiling lamp is a refined example of Aalto’s approach to functional and atmospheric lighting. Produced by Valaisinpaja Oy, the lamp follows Aalto’s characteristic method of controlling light through layered metal slats, creating a soft and indirect illumination while preventing glare.

The circular shade is constructed from white painted metal rings that gradually expand outward, forming a sculptural, architectural silhouette. When illuminated, the layered structure diffuses the light evenly and creates a calm ambient glow. This type of design reflects Aalto’s philosophy of integrating lighting naturally into interiors rather than treating it as a purely technical object.

This example retains the original manufacturer label from Valaisinpaja Oy and uses a standard E27 bulb fitting, making it easy to use with modern light sources.
