Yrjö Kukkapuro 418 Armchair in Yellow Corduroy
Vintage Model 418 armchair designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro, featuring a sculptural white shell, swivel pedestal base and its original-style yellow corduroy upholstery. The chair has the distinctive organic form associated with Kukkapuro’s seating designs, combining a generously shaped seat with integrated armrests and separate upholstered cushions for added comfort.
The warm mustard-yellow corduroy gives the chair a strong 1970s character and creates a striking contrast with the white fibreglass shell and base. The broad, low proportions and enveloping shape make the chair particularly comfortable, while the sculptural construction gives it a strong presence even when used as a standalone piece.
This example has plenty of authentic vintage character. The shell and base remain in clean overall condition, while the upholstery shows considerably more wear and ageing. A distinctive Finnish design piece that works especially well in interiors where original patina and visible history are appreciated.
