The Hannibal coffee table was designed by Kurt Hvistjö for Finnish furniture manufacturer Isku in the 1970s. Its low, square form brings together dark tinted glass, chrome-plated metal and a black lacquered wooden shelf in a clear, practical composition.
The design reflects the clean and functional approach associated with Finnish furniture of the period. A continuous tubular frame defines the rounded corners and supports the upper glass surface, while leaving the structure visually open. The smoky glass gives the generous tabletop a restrained tone without obscuring the lower level.
The black lacquered wooden shelf spans the full footprint of the table and provides useful space for books, magazines and everyday objects. Four castors beneath the shelf make the table easy to reposition when required, an especially practical feature for flexible living spaces.
This example retains its balanced combination of reflective chrome, tinted glass and dark wood. It is in good vintage condition, with minor wear to the lower wooden section and light scratching that may be present on the glass. These signs are consistent with age and use and do not detract from the table’s strong overall appearance.
