Yrjö Kukkapuro Ateljee Two-Seater Sofa in Brown Velvet

This two-seat Ateljee sofa was designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro in Finland. Its compact architectural form combines a white frame with deep brown velvet upholstery, creating a strong contrast between the crisp outer structure and the soft, generously cushioned seating.

The design is built around clearly articulated components. White side and back panels define the sofa’s outline, while slender white legs lift it above the floor. Two loose seat cushions and two back cushions form the seating area, complemented by softly rounded upholstered armrests. The exposed fixings and divided rear panels give the sofa a characteristically functional, carefully resolved appearance from every angle.

At 160 cm wide, the sofa offers comfortable seating for two while remaining suitable for interiors where a full-size sofa would feel too large. The brown velvet has a rich, subtly changing surface that responds to the light, while the white frame keeps the overall silhouette visually light.
