An Experiment chair designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro for Avarte, featuring sculptural blue armrests, a chrome-plated metal frame and white leather upholstery. The Experiment series is one of Kukkapuro’s most recognisable postmodern designs, combining an exposed structural frame with bold colours and relaxed proportions. 

The chair has a low, lounge-like seating position supported by a chrome sled frame. Its curved blue armrests form the most distinctive part of the design, while the white leather cushions create a fresh contrast against the painted wood and polished metal.

The separate seat and back cushions sit lightly within the open frame, giving the chair an airy appearance despite its generous and comfortable proportions. The combination of white, blue and chrome gives this example a particularly graphic look that works beautifully as an individual statement chair.

Suitable as a lounge chair, reading chair or distinctive office chair, the Experiment chair combines Kukkapuro’s characteristic interest in ergonomics with a playful and expressive visual language.
