Vintage Alvar Aalto Table 81A, Artek

Designed by Alvar Aalto, the Table 81A is a larger and more generous variation of Aalto’s classic table family. Introduced in the late 1930s, it follows the same design principles as the 80 series, where structure, material, and everyday use come together without anything extra. Produced by Artek, the 81A has long been a staple in Finnish homes, schools, and public spaces.

This example features a birch frame with Aalto’s iconic bent L-legs and a white laminate top. The longer proportions make it ideal as a dining table for larger groups, a studio worktable, or a shared office table. The contrast between warm birch and the clean white surface keeps the look light and practical, while still unmistakably Aalto.
