The Borkum three-seater sofa was designed by Johan Bertil Häggström for IKEA during the 1970s. With its low profile, generous proportions and exposed tubular frame, the design captures the relaxed and expressive character of Scandinavian furniture from the period.

The sofa features deeply button-tufted brown leather upholstery supported by a sculptural chrome-plated steel frame. The rounded frame continues around the sides and beneath the seat, giving the substantial sofa a surprisingly light and open appearance. The softly padded armrests, wide seat and relaxed seating angle make it particularly comfortable for everyday lounging.

The rich brown leather has developed natural creasing, tonal variation and a beautiful patina over time. Together with the polished chrome frame, it creates a warm yet architectural combination that works equally well in a contemporary interior or a more traditional vintage setting.
