Vintage N65 children’s chair designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek in 1935. The N65 is the smaller counterpart to Aalto’s Chair 65 and uses the same characteristic construction: a circular birch seat, bent L-legs and a low curved plywood backrest.

Made entirely in birch, the chair has a simple and highly recognisable silhouette typical of Aalto’s furniture for Artek. The compact proportions were originally developed for children, while the straightforward construction and warm natural materials give the design the same timeless character as Aalto’s full-size seating.

These vintage examples have developed a particularly attractive patina over decades of use. The numerous marks, scratches, worn areas and variations in the birch surface give each chair an individual appearance and clearly show its history. A characterful piece of vintage Finnish design that works both as functional children’s furniture and as a decorative interior piece.
