Alvar Aalto N65 Chair for Artek in Birch

Alvar Aalto designed the N65 children’s chair for Artek in 1935. This compact model is the smaller counterpart to Chair 65 and is made entirely from birch.

The N65 uses the same clear construction language as Aalto’s full-size seating: a circular seat, bent L-legs and a low curved plywood backrest. Its simple silhouette and warm natural material give the chair an immediately recognisable Artek character.

Originally developed for children, the chair can also serve as a small decorative seat or sculptural interior object. The vintage birch surfaces have developed individual variations in tone and wear, so each available example has its own appearance.

Condition varies between individual chairs. The wood shows numerous marks, scratches and worn areas together with a beautiful, authentic patina developed through use. Please review all images for details.
