Ligne Roset Marsala 3-Seater Sofa in Cognac Leather – Michel Ducaroy
Ligne Roset Marsala 3-Seater Sofa in Cognac Leather – Michel Ducaroy
The Marsala three-seater sofa was designed by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset in France and produced during the 1970s. Its low profile, generous cushioning and dark sculptural shell give the design a relaxed yet clearly defined presence.
Introduced in 1971, Marsala belongs to Ducaroy’s early exploration of new seating concepts made possible by advances in foam, wadding and thermoformed plastics. The model places substantial upholstered cushions within a supportive moulded shell, creating a close relationship between structure and comfort.
This armless three-seat version has a smoked brown thermoformed acrylic shell with three individual seat and back sections. The cushions have been newly reupholstered in high-quality cognac leather, with tonal stitching and buttoned details that emphasise their soft, generous form.
One sofa is available. Its armless configuration keeps the full width usable while allowing the continuous shell and three-part construction to remain visible from every angle.
At 225 cm wide, the sofa provides spacious seating for three while retaining the low, informal proportions associated with the Marsala collection. The warm cognac leather and deep translucent shell create a strong material contrast suited to both restrained modern interiors and more expressive vintage settings.

Material-aware guidance Care for this piece
Based on the materials stated in this piece’s product information. Vintage finishes vary, so test any product on an inconspicuous area first.
Leather
Dust with a clean, dry microfibre cloth. For marks, use a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Use only a leather product suitable for the known finish, after a hidden-area test; avoid soaking, household sprays and repeated conditioning.
Textile upholstery
Vacuum gently with a clean upholstery attachment on low suction. Blot fresh spills immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth—do not rub or soak. For older, unknown or stubborn stains, use a professional upholstery cleaner.
Acrylic and plastic
Use a soft cloth with lukewarm water and a small amount of mild soap, then dry gently. Avoid alcohol, acetone, strong solvents, abrasive cleaners and rough paper, which can haze or scratch vintage plastics.
