The EA 217 Soft Pad chair by Charles and Ray Eames brings generous cushioning to the clean metal frame of the Aluminium Group. Introduced in 1969, the Soft Pad family combines a clear architectural silhouette with a softer, more inviting seat.

These ICF Italy examples are upholstered in warm brown leather, with padded seat and back cushions and polished chrome-finished metal components. The low back and open armrests keep the chair visually light, making it a natural fit for a home office or studio.

Each chair has a five-star base with castors and a working height-adjustment mechanism. Both the castors and height adjustment function well.

The leather is in very good overall condition, with small indentations and age-related creasing. One chair has minor scratch marks. The chrome-finished parts have been cleaned and polished, although some small marks remain.

Two chairs are available, sold individually. The photographs show both chairs and their individual signs of wear.
