Alvar Aalto designed Chair 65 for Artek in 1935. Its low curved backrest, round seat and bent birch L-legs give this Finnish classic a compact, recognisable form.

These vintage examples pair warm, patinated birch with red linoleum seats. The colour brings a lively contrast to the wood, while the low backrest keeps the silhouette light around a dining table or desk.

The birch has developed an attractive patina, and the red linoleum surfaces are particularly well preserved. Slotted screw fixings are a pleasing detail of these older examples.

Two matching chairs are available in very good condition, sold individually.
