Alvar Aalto Wall Shelf with Pegs, 1930s Early Honey Patina

A very rare early wall shelf by Alvar Aalto, produced in the 1930s by O.Y. Huonekalu- ja Rakennustyötehdas A.B. / Artek. This uncommon model features bent birch brackets combined with wooden pegs, a detail seldom seen in later production.

The birch has developed a beautiful early honey patina, adding warmth and authenticity to the piece. With its sculptural loop supports and functional simplicity, the shelf reflects Aalto’s exploration of bentwood techniques and organic modernism.
